HEROES ‘LAFANG’ AT LASANG PINOY YEAR 2

After another brief hiatus, Lasang Pinoy is back, this time with the ‘delayed’ Second Anniversary Edition called Cooking for Heroes.

For the first time, the monthly Filipino Food Blogging Event goes with a “. . . very broad theme — no cooking techniques or specific ingredients in mind. Just think what you would cook for your National Hero . . .” says Bryan of Fire Water Husband, this edition’s host.

 

Lasang Pinoy 21, the Anniversary Edition: Cooking for Heroes

Did you know that Katipuneros would tuck tapang kalabaw inside their belts and the linings of their saya for a quick lunch in the line of fire?

Would you serve lapu-lapu to Magellan’s nemesis and would this chieftain be queasy that it bears his name?

What if Gabriela Silang’s troops won against the Spanish in 1763, what would you serve for the victory party?

  7. gud evening… actually po i was browsing the net… hoping i might read something about Joe Abad Santos’s favorite food… My aunt will be having a food exhibit in Veterans Hospital on Nov 20 and we will be feauting the food our famous WWII heroes ate, brought to the line of fire, smuggled for fellow comrades etc…

    I read:
    “Did you know that Katipuneros would tuck tapang kalabaw inside their belts and the linings of their saya for a quick lunch in the line of fire?”
    and I would like to add that the sort of food belt bag where they store their tapang kalabaw is called “PAMBISA” according to my aunt Mila Enriquez of Bulacan Bulacan.

    She has many “kwentos” about the food our heroes ate, served, even smuggled for their troops or comrades…

    She actually has a food exhibit dubbed as FOOD OF OUR HEROES…

    I have read some of your blog po here and they are great also like my tita’s kwentos… thanks and more power
