FROM BOHOL TO KATHMANDU

Saturday, 1 September 2007 | By Mike | Category: Blab, Musings, Et Al, General, Postcards

I have recently arrived from an exhilarating 11-day sojourn. For eleven days, we hopped between 3 countries: from Philippines to Thailand (en route to Kathmandu and back), to Nepal, back to the Philippines and on to Bohol province.

In this trip, our “new-found sport” of “hotel and resort-hopping” (tee hee!) have been put to the test once more. It took us hopping between a total of 9 hotels and resorts combined in the 3 countries.

Will post a detailed entry soon. But for now, here are some photos . . .

Clockwise from top left: A view of the Boudhanath Stupa from the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu; traditional window details in one of the shophouses lining the Boudhanath Stupa; colourful prayer flags; and one of the centuries-old buildings in the Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Exotic Nepali and Indian cuisine at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. Clockwise from top left: traditional Momos, pickled onions, grilled fish cutlets, vegetable curry.

The Dwarika’s Hotel, Kathmandu: A boutique museum hotel in the heart of Kathmandu with centuries-old architectural detailing and furnishing. A marvelous property, indeed!

Yummy treats at Ananyana Resort & Spa (top left) and Amarela Resort (top right), both located on Panglao Island, Bohol.

  2. Can’t wait to read everything about your exciting trip . . . :-) Food looks great!

  3. Hello,

My sister lived with her British husband in Kathmandu for 11 years. They’re back in UK now. She invited me a couple of times but I opted to see the western countries during my vacations from Middle East . A decision I regretted now that I’m in US and the airfare from here to Kathandu is quite stiff. Cant wait to hear your post – I love history.

  4. Looks like a great trip, Mike! Did you get to see the snow-capped Himalayan mountain ranges of Nepal?

I’ve been to Bohol a few times already but never tried the two resorts you mentioned . . . :-)

  5. Wow, look at that food! It all looks and sounds so exciting, I can’t wait to read more.

  6. PaulN, Dino, Christine . . . I can’t wait to finish the entry myself . . . tee hee!

PerkyCinderella, I’m sure you’ll still have the chance to visit and experience Kathmandu and when you do, I’m also sure that you’ll enjoy it and will never regret spending for the airfare. :-)

  7. mike share more… i am planning to go next year but if i will be based in the us think it might not be too easy for me..

  8. sha,
