The Yulo Strawberry Shortcake

The Yulo Strawberry Shortcake, an all-time favourite at the ‘Orfanage.’ It’s approximately eight inches high. Basically a sponge cake spread with layers of imported whipped cream and flecks of strawberry. It is decorated with large [also imported!] strawberries for a crowning touch!

  1. Tried this once when our boss brought some to work and it’s really yummy!

  2. i have tried this cake and i must say it IS very good. but it irks me how local cakeshops call these types of cakes as “shortcakes” when they’re not. its just a cake. a very good one, but its not a shortcake. shortcakes are made with biscuits (sweet or bland), split in half and filled with whipped cream and whatever fruit filling. and the only place i know where they serve real strawberry shortcakes is at Cafe By the Ruins all the way in Baguio; where they bake their biscuits fresh everyday. however, that picture of that strawberry cake up there doesnt look half bad as well.
