HI-LO CHICKEN ADOBO
Thursday, 22 June 2006 | By Mike | Category: Asian, Filipino / Pinoy, Glorious Food, Pinoy Food, PoultryOn one rainy day a week ago and after hours of marathon shopping at Edsa Shangri-la Plaza, my friends and I decided to grab a bite at Rustan’s Bon Apetit.
After being ushered to our table, we were presented with two sets of menus — one was Bon Apetit’s regular menu and the other, Hi-Lo’s [ a sister outlet as we found out ] ‘healthier’ menu offering.
Here’s what I got from a Rustan’s release:
HI-LO Café is Rustan’s newest dining outlet located at the 3rd Level of Edsa Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Hi-Lo stands for high in nutrition, energy and spirits, and low in fat, sodium, sugar and calorie.
The good news is they serve up delicious yet nutritious dishes that bring a whole new twist to casual dining. This café does not only serve healthy food but has put each dish’s nutritional information in print. The Hi-Lo menu states not just the price of the dishes but their calorie contents as well.
Gourmet dishes such as Lamb Kebabs, Ostrich Salpicao and Bangus Belly seasoned and cooked the healthy way and eaten with organic rice or potatoes are treats you should not miss. A selection of healthy sandwiches, pizza, pasta and desserts are also available.
This one-of-a-kind café’s philosophy is simple: What you put into your body feeds your spirit, gives you energy to do the things you love, and inspires a balanced life.
And guess what, my favourite Pinoy dish — the adobo is on the menu! So I ordered the Hi-Lo Chicken Adobo. I was not disappointed. It was yummy!

HI-LO CHICKEN ADOBO [ 183 Cal., 32g Protein, 5g Fat, 3g Carbs. ] served with a choice of white or brown rice at a low Php 95.00.

I’m making chicken adobo tonight. But what do I serve with it?
