MY BIG DAY
Tuesday, 20 June 2006 | By Mike | Category: General, Glorious FoodAfter fourteen long years, I celebrated my first ever big day here in the Philippines earlier this month.
I spent the day rather quietly. However, the days following it seemed like a marathon foodfest with friends organizing foodie treats for at least three days in a row.
Here are some photos of the dinner at ‘D Orfanage’ . . .

The table centrepiece . . . fresh flowers and fruits by MichelleDS who organized the dinner.

Avocado and Lettuce Salad with Oranges, by Mama Anyati.

Tito Tony Garcia’s specialties — Bacalao and Albondigas with Mama Anne’s Malay Nasi Lemak.

Chicken Rice with Beef Rendang Curry, prepared by Mama Anne who arrived from Brunei.

Chicken Kebabs served with Hummus [ no photo ] prepared by Manila Standard’s Kamilla Hemandas.

Manila Polo Club’s Cheesecake with Blueberry Sauce for dessert. Since I am not a big fan of blueberries, I had the cheesecake with strawberries!

And then some more during a lunch at Dampa sa Libis, hosted by Ninong Baste . . . Xie-xie ninong . . .

The gang at Dampa sa Libis . . . devouring fourteen dishes!

Among the fourteen dishes was my favourite Deep Fried Bihod [ tuna fish roe ] with Chili and Garlic Sauce.

Sliced exotic dragon fruit for dessert. Something that I’ve been missing a lot since leaving Brunei . . .

And finally, a special appearance by a special chef . . . wearing a special apron! LOL!
Thank you!
