About

LAFANG went online in August 2005 as a hobby that was meant to be shared with close friends and acquaintances only.

Lafang was born out of depression. I was looking for something to turn my attention to and the idea of a “themed” blog came up while chatting online — thanks to ISKA, a friend and former colleague who is in New Zealand. It was indeed a great therapy and has been a wonderful learning experience.

Lafang has also moved to three different sites since it started, and now has its own home at mikemina.com since October 2005.

Lafang takes its name from the Pinoy [or Filipino] street slang which means “to eat hastily” or “devour food” or simply, food. Lafang is dedicated to musings and cravings for the best pastime in the world —- food, glorious food!

Lafang is mainly a food blog that hopes to promote Filipino cuisine hence the LASANG PINOY tab on the navigation panel of this blog’s header.
